![]() ![]() ![]() When I picked this 1987 up and hit one chord, I knew it was coming home with me.It has an incredible low end (like a hollow log) of an exceptional old/aged HD-35 and the clarity of mids and highs of an exceptional aged HD-28 (more clear than all the HD28-V's I have played).incredible balance and volume.This one has the original micarta nut and saddle which I think was standard on the Custom 15.It rivals my exceptional 2002 HD28-V in projection and volume but with a toally different, clear bell like ringing tone with great string separation. ![]() 1-11/16" nut, scalloped bracing to 1-1/2" from soundhole-same as a HD-28., Schaller tuners, drop in short saddle, slight V-neck profile, squared headstock, diamond and snowflake inlays on fretboard, tortoiseshell style pickguard.This guitar became a standard model in 1993 andf later evolved into the HD28-VR in 1996. Yes, the first custom 15 was made in 1980 (15th custom order at Martin) which incorporated features like earlier herringbone D-28's. ![]()
